Current Conflicts In Africa are violent conflict and civil strife and are usually caused by bad governance and corruption, poverty, Ethnic marginalization, small arms and light weapons proliferation, human right violations, etc. This article will be focusing on the conflicts happening in Africa currently.

Current Conflicts In Africa has left millions of persons in an unpleasant situation, some have become refugees while others internally displaced. The worst of it all is that hundreds and thousands of people have lost their lives and properties in space of the civil wars and Current Conflicts happening In Africa. Current Conflicts In Africa 2020 And Where They Occur

• Ethnic violence in South Sudan (from 2011 to date)

Ethnic violence in South Sudan has been before 2011, it has a long history among South Sudan’s varied ethnic groups. In South Sudan, there are 64 tribes, among these tribes is Dinkas which is the largest of all. Dinkas constitute 35% of the total population of the with predominance government. The second largest tribe is the Nuers tribe. Conflicts in South Sudan is often caused by the nomadic groups overgrazing of cattle in the land. This conflict has become rampant, even Dennis Blair who was before the Director of National Intelligence gave a warning that a new mass killing or genocide ( a name was given to South Sudan violence by the Department of International Development)  is most likely to take place in Southern Sudan, he said this in the year 2010.

• Libyan Civil War (from 2011 to date)

The first Libyan Civil war was referred to as the Libyan Revolution or 17 February revolution, it was an armed conflict in the North Africa country of Libyan, it took place between forces loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and those seeking to oust his government. The second Libyan Civil war is an ongoing war happening between rival factions. The rival faction is people who are seeking to take full charge of the country territory and its crude oil.  This  conflict  initially was between the government of the House of Representatives (HoR) that was elected controversially in 2014, also the government is known as the “Tobruk government”; and the  General National Congress (GNC) endorsed government, also known as  “ National Salvation Government “, based in capital Tripoli that was established after operation odyssey and the failed military coup.

• The Somali Civil War (from 1980 to date)

The Somali Civil War is an armed conflict ongoing in Somalia, the war started since 1991 after the overthrow of the dictator the person of Siad Barre by the clan-based armed opposition groups. Siad Barre was the former British Empire of Somali land.

The Somali Civil War was led by Siad Barre when it was born out of resistance to the military during the 1980s.  The war began with the conflict between the forces of the Federal Government of Somalia, and various militant terrorist groups and factions in early February 2009. The forces of the federal government was supported by African Union peacekeeping troops,  The Armed Forces of Somali land began engaging in various armed rebel groups by 1988–90, the rebels include the Somali Salvation Democratic Front in the northeast, the Somali National Movement in the northwest, and the United Somali Congress in the South. Therefore, the phase of the Somali Civil War is concentrated more in southern Somalia since 2009 to date. The violence has displaced thousands of people in Southern Somalia.

• ISIL Insurgency in Tunisia (from 2015 to date)

The activity of ISIL in Tunisia started in June 2015, with the Sousse attacks. The current ISIL insurgency in Tunisia is the militant and terror activity of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) branch in Tunisia. A terror incident Bardo Museum and it was said  by Tunisian government that the terror was caused by Okba Ibn Nafaa Brigade but the  ISIL claimed to be responsible for a terror attack incident in Bardo Museum in March 2015, After a year that this incidence happened, in March 2016 there was a large border clash near Ben Guerdane. ISIL activity was described as an armed insurgency; they are suicide attackers but later became terrorist aiming at the territory.

• Boko Haram Insurgency In Nigeria ( from 2009 to date)

Boko Haram insurgency has begun in Nigeria since 2009 which started with the rebellion of the jihadist rose against Nigeria government, the rebellion was an armed rebellion that led to the death of many Nigerian. Tension arose in  2012, in the Boko Haram sect, the tension resulted into a split of the Boko Haram groups. One group was led by Abu Usmatul al-Ansari, they are the  Salafist conservative sect led by and the most violent and dominant sect was led by Abubakar Shekau. Shekau’s faction became ISIL’s West Africa branch in the year 2015. Boko Haram Insurgency in Nigeria was a violent war that destroys life and properties.

• Communal Conflicts in Nigeria (from 1998 to date)

One of the Current Conflict In Africa is the Communal conflicts in Nigeria. The conflict is a long time conflict and it can be categorized into two:

• Ethnic Conflicts:

Ethnic Conflicts is group into cultural, ethnic, or religious communities and identities. Cultural conflicts and religious conflicts are the conflicts that happen between Christians and Muslims in the communities, it is a concurrent conflict and also violent.

• Herder-Farmer Conflicts:

The herder farmer conflicts are also known as the Herdsmen conflict. This is a conflict between the herdsmen (the cattle rearers), the dispute is always about the land where the cattle can graze. The herdsmen conflict can be between the cattle rearers and farmers (in particular the Tiv or Tarok). This conflict is rampant in the Middle Belt of Nigeria e.g Taraba, Benue, and Plateau. The herdsmen conflicts always resulted into the destruction of lives and prosperity, the highest casualties that have been recorded so far is up 2000 in the year 2004 and 2011, and 700 casualties were recorded in 2015.

• Sinai Insurgency (from 2011 to date)

This is a conflict between the Islamist militants and Egyptian security forces. Sinai Insurgency is among the Current Conflicts In Africa which took place in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. The insurgency is about attacks on the civilians which began after the start of the Egyptian Crisis, this Egyptian crisis led to the overthrown of the longtime Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak government during the revolution of the Egyptians in the year 2011.

• The war in Darfur, Sudan (from 2003 to date)

The War in Darfur is a major armed conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan, it is also known as the Land Cruiser War. It began in February 2003 when the   Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) rebel groups and Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) began a fight against the Sudanese government in the Darfur region of Sudan .it all started when the groups were accused of oppressing Darfur’s non- Arab population, the government responded to this conflict attack by carrying out a campaign of ethnic cleansing against non – Arabs of Darfur’s. This attacks in return resulted into death of thousands of the civilians.

• Central African Republic Civil War (from 2012 to date)

The Central African Republic Civil War is a government conflict, the rebels from the Séléka coalition and the Anti-balaka militias.

• The Northern Mali Conflict (from 2012 to date)

The Northern Mali Conflict is also known as Mali Civil War is an armed conflict. It started from January 2012 between the northern and the southern parts of Mali in Africa. Groups of insurgence attackers began a campaign fight on 16 January 2012 against the government of Mali for independence or greater autonomy for Azawad an area in northern Mali. After all, the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) took over the region in April 2012.

• Oromo–Somali clashes (from 2016 to 2017)

The Oromo–Somali clashes began after a territorial dispute between Oromo and Somali communities in Ethiopia in December 2016. This leads to the death of people.

• Islamist Insurgency in Mozambique (from 2017 to date)

This insurgency is ongoing in Mozambique between Ansar al-Sunna, an Islamist militant group in an attempt to establish an Islamic state in Mozambique. The Mozambican security forces in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique. Civilians are targeted by Islamist militants.
