Best-Selling Spanish Cars In Europe – Large automobile groups have their own plants in Spain and export a good part of the cars produced. Immersed in the era of globalization, it is normal that, in the same way that we drive vehicles from other parts of the world, international consumers buy copies manufactured in our territory. And three of the models made in Spain have been classified in the top 10 of the best-selling vehicles in Europe during July 2020. We refer to the Renault Capture, the Peugeot 2008 and the Opel / Vauxhall Corsa.
THE BEST-SELLING SPANISH CARS IN EUROPE
According to data provided by the consulting firm Jato Dynamics, the car from the diamond firm which is manufactured in Valladolid, was the best-selling “Spanish” model in Europe last month, occupying fifth place in the general classification by registering a volume of registrations of 20,361 units.
Just behind, in sixth position, was the SUV of the brand of the lion, with 20,006 copies. This car is produced in the plant that the PSA group has in Vigo. As the third most popular car made in Spain in the aforementioned period, the Corsa that comes out of the facilities located in Figueruelas (Zaragoza) was classified. The 19,902 units sold placed it seventh in the absolute ranking for July.
The top 10 at the European level was led by the Volkswagen Golf, with 31,169 units, followed at a greater distance by the Renault Clio (25,054 units), the Skoda Octavia (22,569 units) and the Peugeot 208 (20,520 units). On the other hand, if we focus on the registrations of passenger cars and off-road vehicles that were registered in our country during the past month, we see that the most successful models do not fully coincide.
The Clio was the best seller of the month with 2,854 copies. On his heels, with only a difference of 14 vehicles, was the Dacia Sandero. Third on the podium was the Peugeot 2008 with 2,545 units, five more than the Seat León , which is still the best-selling car so far this year in Spain (12,206).
Jato Dynamics has also provided data for electrified segments. Thus, the Toyota C-HR led the European market for hybrid and mild hybrid models in July 2020, with 10,571 units. Just behind another proposal of the same brand, the Corolla, with 10,345 units was classified. Then there was the Ford Puma (7,681 units) and the Toyota RAV4 (7,533 units) and Yaris (6,992 units). These data show that the Japanese firm dominates this part of the market.
The thing changes in the section of plug- in hybrids, much more distributed. Last month it was led by the Ford Kuga, with 6,366 units. Much further was the second classified, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, with 3,454 units, only one more than the third, the Volvo XC40. Fourth was the BMW 3 Series (2,663 units) and fifth, the Mitsubishi Outlander (2,583 units).
In terms of electric cars, the Renault Zoe was the best-seller in Europe in July, with 9,280 registered units, ranking ahead of the Hyundai Kona (4,405), the Volkswagen Golf (4,094), the Kia Niro (3,332) and the Peugeot 208 (2,559).
While car trade figures have rebounded after the coronavirus crisis debacle, a study by credit rating agency Scope Ratings notes that sales in Western Europe, one of the world’s leading vehicle markets, this year will be particularly affected by the pandemic, with a drop of close to 21%.
In Spain, the aid plans for the purchase of vehicles approved by the Government of Pedro Sánchez gave oxygen to the market for passenger cars and SUVs, which in July grew by 1.1%, to 117,929 units. Despite this positive data, the accumulated figure for the year leaves devastating figures, with only 457,782 units registered, which represents a drop of 43.4% compared to the same period in 2019.
